Kevin Harvick Wins Fontana

28 03 2011

A little rain started the day at Fontana but the rain went away and rews were able to get the track dry and the race started on time! It was your typical long boring Fontana race with 18 lead changes and 4 cautions.

There wasnt very much action untill the last caution at lap 185 when Bobby Labonte crashed. That set up for a great finish! No one saw this coming at Fontana! They restarted with 10 to go Kyle Busch pulls ahead but Jimmie Johnson was able to keep up with him. Kevin Harvick was hanging bak in 3rd and as Busch and Johnson were racin’ hard as Harvick was getting closer to them. 3 Laps to go Harvick was right there with Johnson and Busch! 2 Laps to go Johnson passes Busch for the lead and Harvick passes Busch for 2nd! Final Lap Johnson taking the white flag as Harvick is right behind him going down the backstright Harvivk gives Johnson a love tap in the rear! Going into turn 3 Johnson goes low Harvick goes high and Harvick passed Johnson in turn 4 and takes the checkers!! What an exciting finish!! Kevin’s Spotter Billy told Him “You put on a show here buddy”

You can watch that exciting finish right here! Just copy and paste the link!

Heres Kevin’s coments fron victory lane!

“Those guys just started to race,” Harvick said. “They got side by side, and we were able to pull up in there. The more laps we got on our tires, the better we were, but I was really nervous about that last call — staying out — but it all worked out in our favor, and we were able to make up ground. “[Crew chief] Gil [Martin] obviously knew that we were better after the tires had air in them [as pressure built during green-flag runs], and it all worked out [Sunday].”

This win was Kevin’s 15th Victory in 363 Cup series starts & First win at Fontana!

This was RCR’s 95th win in the Cup series & first win at Fontana! Only 3 tracks left that RCR hasnt won at,  Las Vegas, Kansas, Homestead.
